Monte Cusna Helicopter Crash Kills Seven

가교 0

On Thursday, June 9, a helicopter leaving the Lucca-Tassignano Airport in Lucca, Italy, crashed into the Monte Cusna peak. The wreckage was discovered two days later on Saturday. There were no survivors, with all seven of the passengers’ bodies being found. The victims include the pilot and six passengers, who were all flying to Italy for a business trip.

Four of the passengers were Turkish businessmen, said to be attending a trade fair while working for the Turkish industrial group of companies, Eczacibasi. The other two passengers were Lebanese executives of INDEVCO Group.

Col. Alfonso Cipriano led the rescue unit starting on Thursday after the initial disappearance of the helicopter. The unit used the passengers’ cell phone connections to approximate their location. A mountain hiker reported on Saturday morning that he saw something that could possibly be part of the helicopter on Mount Cusna, helping the rescue unit find the crash site later that day.

Cipriano said that electric storms had been ongoing during the helicopter’s flight, which may have been the cause of the incident.
