Free Donuts Everyday!
Krispy Kreme recently announced that they would give a free donut every day for an entire year to those who show a valid vaccine card. That’s nearly 300 free donuts if you showed up to a Krispy Kreme store every day for the rest of 2021. However, only those who received the Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines are eligible for the free daily donut. Despite the obvious benefits to this new idea, some are protesting against it because it’s fattening and “discriminating.”
A surprising amount of people were outraged at this promotion; some people are calling it discrimination against the people who are unwilling to take the vaccine. They claim that it’s rude to exclude the people who don’t want to take the vaccine from this promotion. Others countered that the entire purpose of this campaign was to encourage people to get vaccinated; including everyone in the free donut giveaway would be pointless.
However, other commentators began to write that the donuts were another step into the brainwashing process because vaccinations are apparently responsible for rewriting the body and its functions. In response, Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut to everyone (regardless if they got the vaccine or not) until May 24. It’s not a permanent solution, but it does appease (most) people who claimed it to be “discriminatory.”
Other people were concerned about the caloric intake; eating nearly 300 donuts in a year would surely be unhealthy. It’s a valid concern, and should be taken seriously if you take advantage of Krispy Kreme’s generous giveaway. Many other people weren’t very concerned, however; a few pounds of weight means nothing when there is a pandemic going on. Vaccinating America is a priority for most, and these free donuts will definitely help.
