In Chesapeake, Virginia, a mass shooting occurred, killing six at a Walmart Supercenter. Officials identified 16-year-old Fernando Chavez-Barron as the youngest victim. Due to Fernando–who was an employee at Walmart–being a minor, city officials originally withheld identifying him. They identified Chavez-Barron after a vigil on Thursday, honoring the poor victims.

On Wednesday, city officials identified and released the names of 5 of the victims: Brian Pendleton, age 38; Randall Blevins, age 70; Lorenzo Gamble, age 43, Tyneka Johnson, age 22, and Kellie Pyle, age 52.

It was a Tuesday night when the murderer killed at least six people and injured six more before he took his life. Police stated that “there were believed to be about 50 people in the store when the shooting started”. The instigator’s name was Andre Bing, 31 years old, who was the overnight team leader of the store and had been with the company since 2010.

A coworker, Shaundrayia Reese, age 27, described Bing as “weird”, after having worked with him on the overnight stock team from 2014-2018. She described his unsettling mannerisms, saying “He put tape on his phone, on the camera. Always used to tell us the government was watching.”

According to an NBC News tally, “tThe massacre was the deadliest store shooting since May when a white gunman shot 10 Black people dead in a racist shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.”

The City of Chesapeake sent out a tweet on Saturday, saying that the FBI and Chesapeake Police Department Forensic Unit had completed their crime scene investigation at the Walmart. In the tweet, they said that "The store will now be handed back to Walmart who will determine what comes next for this location.”

At least six people dead, from this point of view, does not incite a lot of emotions in people. People aren’t simply numbers; they are living beings, with emotions, experiences, and much more. Once our government thinks of that, will it admit that these tragedies must stop, and enforce stronger laws to prevent these horrible acts of manslaughter?
