On Tuesday, March 21, American rapper Daniel Hernandez, known professionally as “6ix9ine,” was beaten up by several men inside an LA Fitness steam room in South Florida. Multiple videos of the assault went viral on social media, showing the attackers punching and kicking Hernandez as he tried to defend himself. One of these videos was posted by an attacker himself, with the words, “King S*** we caught 6ix9ine slipping f*** a rat ADR not in our hood.” 

Lance Lazzaro, Hernandez’s attorney, reported that Hernandez “had cuts to his face and bruises” after the altercation and that the assailants fled the scene after employees noticed the disturbance. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez was then taken to a local hospital via ambulance. “Thankfully, his injuries are non-life threatening,” added the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

The attack likely transpired due to the absence of Hernandez’s usual security. After being labeled a “snitch” for testifying in court against members of the gang he was formerly associated with, the Nine Trey Bloods gang, for a sentence reduction, Hernandez was known to bring many bodyguards with him whenever he appeared in public.

Other celebrities have commented on the situation, including Boosie, who tweeted, "We need to start a GoFund for this guy… we gotta startt [sic] rewarding the real ones,” under the video of the assault.
